FreeNAS 11.2 Unable to transcode

Server Version#: 1.14.0.5468

I rebuilt my FreeNAS server using THIS tutorial like many others. I did not use any scripts to migrate jails, I created them from scratch and then pointed Plex to my original media directory. Seems like others were having issues with changing some of the settings like

iocage stop plex
iocage set ip4_addr=“vnet0|192.168.86.10/24" vnet="on" boot="on" allow_raw_sockets="1" defaultrouter="192.168.86.1" plex

The tutorial I used has all of these settings included so it can’t be that for me. I’m pretty sure it’s a permission issue somewhere but I need someone more experienced to help me please! Plex Media Server Logs_2018-12-02_11-18-54.zip (2.1 MB)

Anyyone??? I’m stuck here

No one seems to want to help so I figured it out on my own… In case anyone else has this issue, I deleted the plex jail. I went through FreeNAS 11.2 and installed it as a plugin instead. From there I made sure I added

iocage set ip4_addr="vnet0|172.16.1.250/24" defaultrouter="172.16.1.1" vnet="on" allow_raw_sockets="1" boot="on" plexiocage set ip4_addr="vnet0|172.16.1.250/24" defaultrouter="172.16.1.1" vnet="on" allow_raw_sockets="1" boot="on" plex

Movies started playing and transcoding on my laptop and Roku.

Make sure the permissions for /mnt/media/videos/movies/ are correct the log shows file not found while trying to transcode in this dir, I’m assuming you’d want to make sure the entire /mnt/media dir and subdirs are accessible for the plex user.

Thanks for the reply. I got it working just a few minutes ago and my kids are happily watching movies again!

Dear mikec_pt and anyone who can help  !
Can You help me how to give write permisson to plex plugin ( I have freenas 11.2 plex plugin in a jail which freenas made when I set up the plugin) ? Sorry for the noob question, but I have hard time to find that out.

Thanks in advance!

That tutorial is from 2017. In 2019 you don’t need the CLI. In fact, in general in FreeNAS if you’re setting things up from the CLI you’re not only creating more work for yourself, you’re going to have problems later since things are being created/configured outside of what FreeNAS knows about. The only CLI work you should do is from within the jail, to set up PMS. For the purposes of FreeNAS/jail creation/configuration, you want to only use the GUI.

I recently rebuilt my Plex jail for iocage and FreeNAS 11.2 and did it entirely within the GUI using canon methods. Everything worked fine.

Sry but I think I am really dumb now I trying to understand what are you wrote since you write it but I didn’t understand what should I do in case off plex doesn’t want to transcode but everything other than that is perfectly working and I think it is because the write permission for plex.

Thanks in advance for your replies!
