Server Version#: FreeNAS-11.2-U6
Player Version#: 11.2-RELEASE-p9
Two days ago I updated the freenas version and upgraded the ZFS pools. Since this happened I can no longer access my Plex media server. When trying to access the Plex media server web management console I just get a “this site can’t be reached” then " refused to connect". I have tried installing the Plex media server plugin from scratch which seems to work however, Plex media server wont allow me to select the library mount point where all the media files are. I added the mount point in the FreeNAS jail as per normal and the mount point shows in Plex media server library however, it’s grayed out and wont allow me to select it.
I am having the same issue. But, I have two separate pools. One for movies and one for TV shows. Both use the same user and group for permissions, but the movies folder shows up grayed out. TV pulls up fine and loads all my shows. Normally I would think this would happen because of some permission issue, but they share the same permissions. I am running 11.2U6 as well.
I got mine working. You have to follow the instructions from the FreeNAS forum.
After you add the mount points, follow the rest of the instructions after " Accessing Mounted Storage In Your Jail With Plex:"
You have to create a plex user in the shell of the jail and it will work. All of my data sets used the same group, so I only had to create one user and add it to the one group. I just copied and pasted his command in bold and changed the group ID to the one in my shell.
This might depend form which version you updated from (meaning the version you were previous to the update) but you shouldn’t need to create a plex user in the jail, this should be created by the plugin, port or pkg.
Unless you have a custom install I don’t see how this could happen as the port creates a plex user.
You might need to reset permission on the actually media or reset the mount-point though best refer to the FreeNAS docs for that.
Yesterday I rest my freenas to it’s factory settings and attempted to start from scratch. Once my freenas was reset I added the plugin plexmediaserver-plexpass via the GUI plugin screen. From here it installed as per normal. Following this I stopped the jail and added the mount points as per normal. Then I started the jail and attempted to setup the library in Plex. I successfully navigated to the mount point I setup for Movies. As this appeared to be working I stopped the jail again to add the rest of the mount points. After the other mount points were added, I was not able to navigate to them in Plex. They show as grayed out files in the Plex navigation - see “Movies” in the photo. It looks as if it’s not even being recognised as a folder, instead some file type.
