FreeNAS - Unable to add media

Hello all, I’m very new to all this.

I took an i5-2500 3.3 ghz computer, downloaded freenas on a thumb drive, installed it to another thumb drive, added 2 2-bay hdd enclosures with 4 drives, and went through freenas for the first time setting them up as RAID 5.

I’ve managed to get the Plex-Media-Server to show up in my browser and installed on the server. I can create Folders in finder(I’m on both mac and windows) and copy movies into the folders. Now, I’m trying to set my libraries up in plex just to get stuff to show up and I could use some help understanding what I’m doing. I made a folder Server(then a folder in that)-movies-(and finally the movies in that folder). I can watch them on my laptop via the finder, or windows, but I can’t seem to figure out how to put them in plex. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Have you added the folder(s) as a mount point to the plex jail/plugin?

That is the first step (freenas gui -> jails -> choose plex -> mount points -> add mount point). Maybe not exactly like this but something similar.

When you’ve done that you need to enter the plex server gui, :32400/web There you add libraries and choose the folder(s) that you mounted in freenas.

Edit: If you’ve done this or need more instructions then there are some really good guides on the freenas forum. Step by step with good explanations.

That was it. Thank you so much. That was what I was missing . I guess I didn’t know what a mount was.
