Frequent random pauses during play

server
Version 4.141.0 on a QNAP NAS
client
Hisense 75E7NQ Pro Smart TV
version 5.90.1
platform version V0000.08.50A.O0713

When I play videos on the above configuration playback will occasionally and frequently just stop, until you continue by pressing play manually. A buffering symbol will appear but no matter how long you wait the movie won’t continue playing on its own unless you actively press play on the remote.

I tried to change all kinds of settings in the server and client regarding transcoding and bandwidth to no avail.

the connection is via Ethernet and more than sufficient to handle the full hd video material I’m watching. The same movies play without any incident via Chromecast and Plex app on an Android phone (same network, same NAS, same TV)

Any ideas or suggestions how to fix this??

I’m having the same issue I believe. Whenever I go to play a movie, no matter if it’s in the begging, middle, or toward the end, it plays for about 30 or 40 seconds (not timed it) and the just stops and goes back to the movie and play button. I thought at first it was only doing this when trying to cast it to a Roku device but then I tried just playing the movie in the app itself (android) and it still does the same thing. The movie will play for a few seconds like a preview and then return to the library. I’ve checked all of my settings on playback limitations and none are set. App updated to latest version on Android 14 on a OnePlus 10T. No plex pass and I haven’t activated.

UPDATE I just changed the Application Layout (settings > experience > application layout) in the android app from mobile to t.v. and the movie played all the way through. What this has to do with it I’m not completely sure yet.
