So, I’m trying to do a fresh install on a Raspberry Pi 2 and I can’t get 0.7.0 to run. It just sits at the GPU test screen. 0.6.0 installs and runs just fine though.
Some more details…
Rasp Pi2, no overclocking
Connected inputs: ethernet, HDMI, USB keyboard and mouse
16GB SanDisk Ultra
5V 2000mA power
Image built with GetRasplex on OSX
Tried on another SD card for S&G, no dice
Anyone having a similar issue? I haven’t tried upgrading from within 0.6.0 yet, but figured it would be worth reporting even if that does work.
Please forgive me suggesting this (but I did the same when I did a fresh install of Rasplex 7). When you install Rasplex, there is an option to install to either a RPi1 or a RPi2. If you choose the wrong one (as I did first) all you get is the multi-coloured screen on boot.
Same Problem here. I use the windows installer. RPi2 with Lan, HDMI, Power and nothing else. (i controll rasplex with the plex app on my smartphone)
edit:
i tried to install 0.6.0 now (same Problem…)
i downloaded 0.6.0 new, because of reinstalling my pc i dont have my old 0.6.0 image and installer
edit2:
in the installer, after chosing rp2 and 0.7.0 i press “update links”… but this jumps back to the rp1 download links (it shows rp2 in the gui whats wrong), you see it at the names of your files.
The name should be RasPlex-RPi2.RP-0.7.0.img.gz, but it downloaded RasPlex-RPi.RP-0.7.0.img.gz instead.
I figured it out. With GetRasplex, if you DO click “Update Links” after making your selection, it resets it back to Raspberry Pi, but the dropdown menu still says Raspberry Pi2. So the UI is correct, but then the download file is actually the RaspPi1 file.
Since I didn’t see any instructions on the site or in the UI, I assumed the “Update Links” button was supposed to be clicked. However, after reading above I did it without clicking that and now it’s downloading the correct file.
Marked it answered, though someone should probably address the bug in GetRasplex to prevent future confusion. If Update Links resets the download choice, then it should also reset the dropdown choices.
Pi2, Win7, RasPlex download applet, planned to DL RasPlex v7.x
Thank you (another near miss:). I experienced the same “rainbow from the deep”… which I now understand to be the/a GPU test? Would make sense. Any hoot. I had made a “judgement” error (really?). In the RasPlex download applet, I clicked without looking first. That almost never happens. I just clicked DOWNLOAD, assuming it would be the latest and greatest, v7.x On closer inspection it defaulted to v6.x. Makes sense. More folk with pre-Pi2’s I would wager a guess. It worked much better with the correct software. What are the odds?
If it wasn’t for this info, I don’t think I would have ever looked at the version I had downloaded. Thanks so much! (it’s like a check game you never really win. Good times. Good times)
