Fresh install of ubuntu, fresh install of plex, no library, no way to add a library

The only option available is to download, of all things, plex media server (which just feels like the devs giving me the middle finger… change that). Honestly, just make users delete a config file that gets re-written on PMS startup if we need to reset EVERYTHING, like a hard reset button from the OS side that requires superuser privileges. It would be much simpler, much cleaner.

I’ve already followed the instructions here. Nothing in this article is accurate, however.

My XML file is this:

<Preferences OldestPreviousVersion="1.18.9.2571-e106a8a91" MachineIdentifier="4616dd25-a27a-4324-823e-86981c071004" ProcessedMachineIdentifier="7157cd1c519706cb9ce8b47af89e75302524882e" AnonymousMachineIdentifier="c632a4d4-0dab-4af2-b13a-7204facd7d4e" MetricsEpoch="1"/>

I’ve been working on this for 2.5 hours and now I’m pissed. Plex needs an IRC channel. This is ■■■■■■■ stupid. This is unquestionably the most difficult install of any service or application I’ve ever done. Even so, this doesn’t even qualify as an install since this software simply refuses to work.

Server Version#: 4.30.1
Player Version#: n/a

For the initial configuration you must use the embedded web client, not the one hosted at app.plex.tv. Use:

http://localhost:32400/web or:
http://127.0.0.1:32400/web or:
http://IPofServer:32400/web

If you’re not local to the server you must establish a tunnel to it first and connect via that, as described in the “On a Different Network” section of this article:

May I offer?

  1. Sign out of Plex/web (upper right corner) - Your screenshot shows you logged in
  2. Open an incognito Window
  3. Now access it.

I’ve since removed, but I had the same issue with Windows and was using the internal browser. Something seems to be wrong. Only library that went thru was the music one. The movies and tv episodes nothing. Then when I tried to stop and restart my hour installed instance I got a database corruption.

Would you please create a tar.gz of the Logs directory (under /var/lib/plexmediaserver a bit) or download the logs ZIP (from settings - server - troubleshooting - download logs) and attach it here?
