The website articles are excellent. Please follow this one closely, and screenshot any place you get stuck or it fails.

I realize you took a long time to copy the messages, but please screenshot everything. It’ll take too long to explain why if that’s okay for now.

It will help a lot if you mention the OS you’re installing PMS onto, including version numbers for both, and whether you are trying to access the PMS from the same computer.

Good luck!

I downloaded Plex Media Server from the Plex website yesterday. The version is obviously up to date. I am running windows 10. I used to have plex running DAILY on this computer, however since the libraries began disappearing I have backed off.

The media server is on this PC, the files to be shared are on this PC as well. Plex still will not allow me to find ANY libraries.

Instead of being a “media server” for the entire house, allowing us to use plex on our smart tv and our PS4 like we used to, now it cannot even find files on the same computer.

The website article are NOT EXCELLENT. There is NO explanation of this issue, although MANY people are having this problem.

I created an ENTIRE new email and account to try to solve this issue. Currently PLEX MEDIA SERVER is running on my computer and if I OPEN plex with THAT MEDIA SERVER, the corresponding website tells me to DOWNLOAD media server. The media server LITERALLY took me to the website that is now telling me that I have to download it.

I appreciate your time, but you provide NO answers Nibbles. Links that lead to questions that are not mine, DO NOT help anyone. It just makes it look like you didn’t even read the issue, just funnel people to somewhere else. This is a problem that needs to be looked at. I would run Plex forever, but now I can’t see me running it EVER again, and I was a PREMIUM account for quite some time.

What happens if you click more on the last screenshot?
Or the Plus sign next to “Your Media”

Photos attached. Please explain how PLEX MEDIA SERVER is not installed, and WHY it loops back to this NO MATTER if I install it 1000 times.

Server doesn’t appear to be claimed.

Tiebierius - What does that mean?
Server doesn’t appear to EXIST at all, because you cant setup plex on my computer if it asks me to install OVER & OVER again.

The middle photo happens.
INSTALL PLEX MEDIA SERVER.
More doesn’t take you anywhere.

No matter how many times the MEDIA SERVER is downloaded and installed, THE PLEX site and everywhere TELLS me to DOWNLOAD the MEDIA SERVER.
HOW DOES THIS WORK FOR ANYONE??? WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS? No one has any answers about this and it is effecting MULTIPLE USERS???

If the plex media server doesn’t exist on my computer, HOW is it setup to START MEDIA SERVER at LOGIN???

How did you first access the web app after installing Plex?
Did you go through the setup wizard?
If you never went through a setup wizard, that means you didn’t finish setting up Plex.

If you read through the link that @nibbles provided it gives information about the first time Plex is launched. If you used the Open Plex option from right clicking the Plex icon in the system tray, that should have had you go through a wizard.

If not, you should be able to open a browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web and that should bring you the initial setup wizard.

Also, please do not use caps to emphasize stuff as that equates to yelling. For emphasis bold text by using the B button at the top of the text box.

Yelling at people doesn’t help a lot either. Caps lock are the yelling of the internet, if you didn’t know.
Try to follow the advice people give you, Especially about claiming your server.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue. May it be caused by some firewall settings?

I have the same issue with later versions of Plex Media Server as @tysonplex2019_gmail_com. I have been using Plex for a number of years with no errors. I upgraded to the latest version and initially my local media server installs and scans my library. Once I close the web browser, my local media server can no longer be seen. If I uninstall, and clear the registry I can downgrade to version 0.9.913.525 the media server works. Unfortunately the Plex client on my TV wants a newer version of Media Server.

Media server - Windows 10 Pro - 1903.

Any help you can provide would be great.

I have got the same problem and found no sollution.

The server runs on the same machine as the browser.
I can access the web interface, but the link to “Your media” just shows “Get the Plex Media Server” like the server was not installed. Obvously the server is running since I can access the web interface…
