As the title says I have shared my server with my friend. He is accessing it on his roku smart TV and keeps getting the Playback Terminated “user@email.com” asked to stop your playback from this server: To play 4K content, please set your video quality settings for remote/internet streaming to Maximum/Original.
I have NOT done anything on my end requesting to stop his playback. He had this issue while attempting 4K as well as in 720p. Any ideas on what is potentially causing these issues?
That is a custom message being sent. Are you using any 3rd party Plex tools? Some of them have the ability to interrupt a stream and send out messages like this.
I have my Plex server on a Whatbox seedbox server, that would be the only 3rd party tool I’m using. He experienced this issue while trying to stream a movie in 4K initially as well as dropping it to 720p. My initial thought was perhaps there was a bandwidth issue but upon looking further I don’t believe there should have been any issues with bandwidth. I had no interruptions during my streaming of any sort either.
You might want to ask them if their setup did this. Since they setup PMS, they may automatically include the 3rd party app that is placing this limitation. I wouldn’t be surprised since transcoding 4K content can be quite cpu intensive and they may not want their server’s doing that much work.
