Session Termination Issue with 4K Streaming

Hello Plex Community,

I’ve recently encountered an issue where my session is being terminated while attempting to stream 4K content. Below are the logs that I’ve extracted:

The termination reason provided was: “To play 4K content, please set your video quality settings for remote/internet streaming to Maximum/Original.”

I understand that all servers support 4K video streaming to devices with suitable network speeds and playback capabilities, and that 4K HEVC video streams should not be transcoded. However, I’m unsure why my session is being terminated.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or can provide some guidance on how to resolve it?

That is a message from the server’s owner/administrator, not from Plex. You will have to ask him/her yourself.

I am the owner of the server, although I use a remote server from Whatbox

Whatbox is terminating the stream.

Do you support the ability to stream 4K media?

All servers support 4K video streaming to devices with suitable network speeds and playback capabilities. You may not transcode 4K HEVC video streams.

Then you will have to ask them why they have added such a script to their servers.
