I don’t have a plexpass, I’m just bought the app. In this case if the invited friend watches a show will it be marked as watched on my server? I’ve looked online but the only thing I can see is the answer is no if you have a plexpass but I’m not sure why that would be a feature of only plexpass and not standard with the free server. Thanks.
Is your friend in the same local network as your server and watching with a DLNA client?
(Even if only ‘virtually’ so, by means of a VPN?)
Has your friend a plex.tv account of his own or did you share your plex credentials with him?
Have you linked his Plex client device with your account perhaps by going to https://plex.tv/link with your web browser?
If the answer to every question above is ‘No’, there is only one other known cause for this effect:
