Friends benefits?

I subscribed as a lifetime Plex Pass user…

I understood one of the benefits was being able to add a friend to receive the same access …

I wanted to add my brother-in-law as a “friend”, so I did that and began using my host from 3,000 miles away … terrific system and he’s be very happy.

He’s been watching the content of my host using his iPad through the Plex App.

Yesterday for the first time, he received the error message shown in the attached pic.

I’m not sure what’s wrong, other then Plex appears to think he’s not authorized any longer and wants him to subscribe to something? Why does he need to do that if he’s a “friend” under my lifetime Plex Pass membership?

Thanks…

Regards,
Doug

Your friend would need to be part of a Plex Home that you create

See: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/203815766-What-is-Plex-Home-

Members of a Plex Home receive most benefits of a Plex Pass subscription. This means that members of the Home—whether a Managed User or a regular Plex Account—can make use of Plex Pass features based on the admin’s Plex Media Server.

For example, once the admin account of the Plex Home (or another non-Managed User member) signs in to a Plex app to activate it, it’s possible to quickly switch to any other member of that Plex Home. This can be used to provide members of the Home free access to Plex apps that a subscription brings, for instance.

Thank you for the quick response… appreciate it ..

Ok, I checked my server and I’m the only user that belongs to “home”, I suppose because I created the server.

So, is this as simple me adding my brother-in-law who is currently a “friend” member, to my host under “home”?

I say that because he’s already registered with an email as a “friend”, so do I now fill in his email address (see pic) with that "friend’ email address, and he’ll get an updated notice, which will now allow him to use the iPad Plex app once again?

Thanks for your help …

Darn, these relationships seem complicated, especially when you give me a coffee break and then have to retrain me..

Yes, put in the username (which you can get from the Friend screen) or email and it will send an updated request asking if the user would indeed like to join your Plex Home.

Thank you adamskoog …

That was very helpful …
