Do you have an old Smart TV running an old version of the Plex for Smart TV app? Could Plex support is ending 2020-09-30 on older smart TV devices be the issue?
No. The TV is new. It’s a Samsung 65 inch 7000 series. I just got it in September.
To give more details… I was wired directly into the google mesh system and now i have removed the wired connection. Plex works on other devices that are on wifi… just not the Samsung tv. It did work when I first set it up then I was working in a remote location for the past. 5 weeks and when I got back just before thanksgiving it wasn’t working. I tried to set up the port forward with google support( extremely helpful) and got altice to set up my router/modem as a bridge . Everything else seems to work perfectly but the plex. Ij also left early access build on plex to try that as well. Thank you in advance for any and all help.
If you are accessing your friend’s server, then port forwarding isn’t needed, unless you can control your friends’ server and was trying to change things there. But if other devices are working, then that’s probably not the problem.
Do you use an Android device and is it able to connect to your friend’s server? If so, can you quickly play something, only need about 30s, then get me the log from it. Android, Android TV, Fire TV Logs | Plex Support
solved the problem… i had to sset up the port forward as tcp/unp… using protocol IPV6… but it worked and the server us totally accessible…
