Please help guys. I’m not sure if settings have changed with a new update or what, but let me first state I’m not necessarily a new user to Plex and I have constructed and maintained various library types for a few years now. There have been hiccups randomly, but for the most part, my frustrations generally get figured out (usually with the help of you good people). However, I’m coming across an issue now, that I can’t seem to get around.
I’m trying to set up a new Music Library (I deleted my old one). I painstakingly went through the over 13k songs I have in my music collection and updated their metadata, so I want that to be the metadata Plex pulls from. Well in attempting to set up the new library, I’m choosing what I’m almost 100% sure are the correct settings, but I keep getting the message “Your changes could not be saved.” I’ve tried umpteenth times at this point. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Below are the settings I am trying to save:
It might be worth taking a look at your server logs, scanning them for indications of database corruption (e.g. specifically mentioning the corruption or some malformed aspects).
Hmmm…I don’t see anything that looks weird, but then again I”m not 100% sure what that would look like. I opened the zip file and did a scan, looking out for different variations of ‘corrupt’ but didn’t see anything
So the options you gave me just now allowed me to actually save it finally. Thank you. I will see shortly once I start adding media, if it’s pulling only from the metadata I added.
Most people just want their songs to match correctly by updating their metadata, other people want all the special changes to metadata they’ve made to be what’s displayed, such as band groupings/names/art and the like. You might want to make a small test library of a few albums and set that library to Use Local Metadata which forces your changes to rule the roost. To learn more about Use Local Metadata and decide if it’s for you, search the support articles similar to the one Otto linked if you fall in the latter category of the two types of people. Using local metadata is labor intensive, but I use it for my live music recordings. Good luck!
