Frustrated with Plex Photos vs the old Plex App

Last year, had the all-in-one Plex app installed on my Pixel 8 phone. Everything worked well. As soon as that updated, and I couldn’t see photos any longer, had to install Plex Photos. Ever since doing so, I’ve not been able to play my phone videos on it. They take forever to load and then only play a couple seconds before buffering. Basically, those videos are now unwatchable.

I tried to side load the Plex app from last year back onto my phone but couldn’t on Android 16. So.. earlier today, tried messing with server video settings to see if I could get these videos to play acceptably. No dice. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you uninstall the new app first? I’m on a Pixel 8 Pro with the old version of the Plex app.

I did not install the old app but I do have auto updates turned on, on my Pixel 8. So… what happened was… the app updated, I tried to access my photos (as usual) and there was no way to do it in the new app. So… had to web search the problem and discovered I now needed Plex Photos. So… I installed that and ever since, my phone videos no longer play on it.
