full screen aspect ratio on smart tv

is there a way to see on samsung tv (app plex) always in full screen without black bands?
I have two tvs in 2016, I can change it by hand while with the 2017 I can not
can I change something to see any media in full screen?

you know that by your definition of “full screen” you’ll be either cutting content away (left and right) or squeezing the picture so it’ll be distorted?

Aspect Ratio Murderer!

Halp! Police! Police! Halp!

lol

(Note: If you use Plex Media Player - top of the forum/downloads/get an app) and also use it’s ‘TV View’ mode - you can access some ‘special’ (ed) settings that will allow you to murder your aspect ratio - just like the big, grown-up serial killers you see on TV!)

(NOT recommended for lovers of visual media for these types of individuals watch media in the way it’s creator intended and do not have ‘Mommy Issues’ with black bars.)

@tom80H i have 2015 smart tv and i can change aspect ratio and i think “I squeezing the picture”. So, can i squeezing the picture on tizen tv 2016 or 2017. At home have 3 samsung 2015 and 2 samsung 2016/7

Lots of TV sets have such a feature
that doesn’t make it a good feature. If you don’t mind losing part of the picture or getting the picture distorted— go for it

I wonder what the difference is in some TV’s though? For example, if I put a 4:3 show in 16:9 on my Roku TV, it just stretches the pic to fit the screen, with nothing cropped at all
but on the Samsung TV, when you do this, it looks 10X worse, like the picture is cropped and it looks much more stretched than on the other TV doing the same thing. Another weird thing I noticed is this: once my Roku Plex settings changed itself to do transcoding from Auto to HLS, causing the Roku TV to display a 4:3 show in 16:9 look as bad as the Samsung TV, horribly stretched and distorted vs not in HLS mode. I still have no clue how it got changed from Auto to HLS, but if it stays on Auto, 4:3 to 16:9 doesn’t look terrible on my Roku TV, but in HLS mode it looks unwatchably distorted.

Start watching the content.
Stop watching the black bars.
Watch material in the intended aspect ratio.
Problem solved.

You’re so brutally honest

I ain’t no aspect ratio murderer, consarnit!

There are so many ratios out there created by masters in the industry that sweated the details on lighting and framing
I want to enjoy the material as it was intended to be seen.

If it has a black bar ill never know. I watch the content, not the bars.

Casablanca is 4:3. Anyone stretching it to 16:9 is an idiot.

Who the F cares, you do you and I will make it like I like. I did not pay over $5K for a TV to not use 30% of it.

STFU with this " murder your aspect ratio". You don’t know the meaning of the word. Who are you to tell people that have to watch with black bars and can’t see full screen. I want to watch it the way I want and if you have a problem with it, you can eat ■■■■.
