I use plex fullscreen on my MacBook. During playback I often switch between apps (while plex is still playing my movie/show), I have encountered two small issues with Plex:
When returning to Plex without moving my cursor in the Plex app the pointy finger remains visible. (This can be reproduced by keeping the movie/show playing when switching apps, or just pressing the space bar to start playing in the Plex app). When moving the cursor in the fullscreen Plex app (or click to play/pause) the cursor disappears after two seconds.
When returning to Plex, I get a black screen for less than a second, showing the geeklets on my desktop (when geeklets are enabled, it’s just a black flash).
Anyone getting similar issues? With the Plex app for Mac?
Note: The black flash doesn’t only appear during playback, also on deck or dashboard or any other view with the Plex App. Haven’t seen this issue with other Fullscreen apps.
Also checked if I could replicate with PMP (v2.52.1), no black ‘flashes’ when switching to PMP and mouse disappears 1 second during playback, after switching between fullscreen app.
When a notification banner appears on my mac, the arrow also appears and doesn’t vanish when the notification vanishes, I have to move my cursor like explained before.
I just tried this on my Mac, 10.15.3 and using the same app version and can’t repo using ALT-TAB, or “5 finger slide left-right”, to switch between apps (while plex is playing on fullscreen).
Do you happen to have any pref on the cursor like size and such set? (just curious if that might be related).
Might also help to know the hardware (I’m using a 2017 Mac Book Pro 15’’)
My cursor-size is normal, I disabled the shake pointer option but enabling doesn’t solve the issue. No external trackpads/mouses connected.
I’m using the 5-finger slide to switch apps.
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014).
I have a small video of the issue (on a second user on my mac, I even created another plex account to test), could you tell me what the preferred upload method would be?
I wasn’t able to reproduce the ‘black flashes’ when switching apps on the clean user. This issue also doesn’t always seem to happen with my default user. Might be related to a setting or third party application interfering.
Cursor issue might be an apple issue, noticed the same issue when using my dedicated Netflix app (Clicker)
but the black ‘flashes’ only happen when using the Plex app, these flashes don’t occur when using Plex Media Player.
Haven’t seen the black flashes for a few days/weeks.
Might have been resolved with a macOS update or an update for the Plex app.
As mentioned I encountered the cursor issue also with another third party (fullscreen) video player (Clicker for Netflix), but I don’t have this issue with VLC or Netflix via safari when I watch fullscreen.
