Hi Folks, I have an issue with my Plex server. At home i have configured port forwarding and upnp and checked those with the canyouseeme website. The port for the server is open, when i try to access my server at work it says it has an indirect connection but when i check the settings it says remote access enabled and fully working. I have no vpn currently active and i have blacklisted the plex app from the McAfee fire wall. The server has a static ip configured with a reserved DHCP slot, what should i try to resolve this or should i just leave it on indirect?
Also when i access plex through the external ip at work it says connection timed out, even though remote access is fully working
Very likely the DNS server or the firewall of your work network is to blame.
Unless you are friends with the network admin, there is nothing you can do about it.
Its my own server, I don’t have any dns settings in my superhub 3, also i have another machine but with only windows firewall which has the same symptoms so i guess it must be router related
I am not talking about your server.
It all depends on how (or if at all) your workplace’s network will resolve host names on the .direct
TLD, because this is what is used by Plex remote access.
