Future Proof easy to use Plex Client

Hi,
i am searching for a new Plex client for my parents. There are so much clients i need some help with.

What i am looking for

  • cheap (i use myself raspberry pi)
  • should direct start to flex → very important, it will be only used for flex
  • 4k support
  • if no 4k support should play h265 1080p
  • minimum DTS support better DTS-HD and/or TrueHD
  • with remote (they have no TV with CEC)
  • small → no htpc
  • not that power hungry
  • uses the flex media player ui
  • lan port
  • fast in open, browse and play, or if not all it should play without long buffering

If hope you can tell me some little boys for that.

Odroid C2 running OpenPHT
see https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/223080/openpht-for-odroid-c2-information-and-tips/p1#top

For the remote you’ll need to recycle some old remote from e.g. a win´dows media computer or similar. The Odroid has a IR receiver on board. So you’ll need to adapt the IR mapping to the particulkar remote you have.

Alternatively, there will be soon another device also supported by OpenPHT with a very similar chippery inside: Wetek Hub, which comes ready with a remote.

Sounds great, but is not with official PMP Software correct?

Who cares as long as it works?
The Plex devs are “interested” in the Odroid, they said.
