Recommendation for an Intel PC

I would like a recommendation from people in the know my best way forward.

I would like a (Fairly) top end Plex client that can play high bit rate 1080p files with DTS-HD MA audio (My A/V receiver is a few years old and does not support Atmos).

I have an Asus ROG G20AJ with a fourth generation i5 and an NVidea GTX750 2GB graphics card running windows 10. I would like to dedicate this as a Plex player.

From this post Plex recommends Plex Media Player for Windows or Plex for Kodi. I am hoping OpenPHT also supports 7.1 audio. If it does how would you recommend I proceed?

My understanding is that I can install OpenPHT in Windows or as an embedded (With a Linux OS?). As this will be dedicated and placed in my A/V room I won’t be able to use a keyboard/mouse (The TV is in another room so I wouldn’t be able to see) so remote access would be needed. I can do that from Windows but unsure about embedded.

So, here I am asking the community for recommendation(s). Thanks everybody.

what remote will you be using with it? - remote is important

Oops, forgot about that. I will be using a Flirc with a Harmony 700.

sounds like your ready to go, just install it on your current Windows 10 and have a play?

checking the channels in openpht on windows, it does let me select 7.1

You talked me into it you smooth talking character 8->

I have been looking at Kodi with the plex plug-in, Openelec with the plex plug-in and OpenPHT. I guess I can try both Kodi and OpenElec and pick the one I like.

Thanks for taking the time.

try out the Aeon Nox skin for OpenPHT to get the most out of it
