Hello, I had someone at the apple store reccomend plex to me (I was sick of using itunes and carting around my hard drives everywhere) and at the time i didn’t know the questions to ask. I’ve been searching websites and am trying to fully understand this to see if it’ll work for me. So with plex, i set up a server from a computer and have access to it everywhere? So if i set it up in Philadelphia and leave it there, i should have access to the info on my phone/ipad/apple tv when i’m in new jersey or florida? Is that right? Also, for the live TV and DVR, does that work the same way? It looks like i need additional equipment for that, correct? I was looking at the silicone dust quad tuner but i’m not sure if that’s correct. So again, if i set that up in Philadelphia and keep it connected to the internet via computer (I assume), would i have access to that in NJ or Florida? Or would i need to bring everything with me? Sorry guys, i’m actually usually pretty technical but i feel like i’m going in circles trying to find some of this stuff.

Yes, if your internet access allows you to activate the remote access.
Unfortunately this is not always possible on all types of internet connections.
I recommend you to install Plex Server right away and try it out.
Your server computer is required to be switched ON all the time. (to serve you remotely and also to record scheduled tv broadcasts.)

Yes, that would be an excellent choice. Keep in mind that you may not be able to watch all channels if they are encrypted in your area. (Usually those which require a cablecard to watch them.)

Yes, if the available bandwidth between those two location is high enough and stable enough.
There is no way to predict that reliably. You can only try it out.
The upstream speed of your internet connection at home (where your Plex server is) is most important. Usually the ISPs only advertise the downstream, which is less important in your use scenario.

Only your client device, which you can choose from a variety of options.

Or you use an existing computer to log on the plex.tv website with a regular web browser.
(But don’t store your plex username and password in there
