Generate Chapter Thumbnails

I’m wondering if there’s a way to delete these if I decide to enable his new feature. Like under the library’s Advanced settings you can delete the Video Preview Thumbnails, I don’t see an option to do the same for Chapter Thumbnails. I had to delete the Video Preview Thumbnails because of the space it consumed, I would like to try the Chapter Thumbnails but if they start to take up to much space, I need a way to remove them as well.

Thanks

After reading the release notes again I realize this seems to maybe already be a feature that’s been there just now we just have some control over it. Is it safe to assume this? or if I put this back to run as a scheduled task will it start to generate new thumbnails sense this feature control? I instantly set it to never after installing the new update as I was concerned about disk space.

This is just a guess, as I have not experimented with chapter thumbnails, but I would assume that chapter thumbnails would hardly take any space at all.

I mean, I get what you’re saying with video preview thumbnails, mine seems to take over a 100gb space maybe more. But think about it, they are generated at what seems like several hundreds per movie. Chapter thumbnails should presumably make only one picture per chapter in the movie. That’s not much at all.

Chapter thumbs are stored with a maximum resolution of 720p, depending on the resolution of the video from which they are taken.
The amount of storage space used for them is negligible, compared to ‘video preview’ thumbnails.

To put a finer number on it, chapters for “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” with 78 chapters is just under 6MB. So, using that along with an estimate of about 20 chapters per movie, 1000 movies with chapter images would consume about 1.5G.
