Generating video preview thumbnails continuous Loop (cont)

Server Version#: Version 1.18.8.2527 (windows 2012 r2, physical, dedicated to PMS)

this is a continuation of the closed thread:

I too very often see this same thing- ie where PMS is showing me that plex server is generating video thumbnails for XYZ very old media, media that i may have added a year or so ago. This has been an issue for atleaste the past year, across various PMS versions.

I understand what its doing (and how to remove corrupt media that might cause this loop), but i should not see the same media , stuck in a loop.

The plex devs need to apply some better logic here on PMS- IE if server has either:
1- attempted to generate video previews for X media more than 5 times, then skip it
2- if PMS has been generating video previews for X media for more than 1 hour, then skip it (or try again later if less than 5x attempts).

should help fix this resource intensive issue/bug.

Same - version 1.18.8.2527 on dedicated windows 10 hardware. Generation stuck on a single file, doesn’t respond to restarts, or turning off thumbnail generation. Also locks the file for deletion or move on the filesystem,
