Something has changed in 1.18.8.2527 update as the generating of view preview thumbnails takes now for ever. What’s going on? I’ve seen similar threads on this but no satisfactory answers provided. Anybody from Plex would care to chime in, please?
Would need to see your logs from when they are being created.
Same server version I’m running and nothing has change for me. It’s quite fast. Running on Linux, for what it’s worth.

So I have not heard from you for a while even after sending you my longs. No matter. Just to let you know that after the latest update of PMS to v1.19.1.2621, generating of thumbnails returned to normal so, it was the software after all…
Which version of PMS do you have? I have version 1.19.3.2764 on Linux, and video preview thumbnail generation is terribly slow. Commercial removal from a 60-minute recording takes 3-4 minutes, but thumbnail generation takes about an hour. On the server the Plex Transcoder process is consuming about 10% CPU, when the rest of the system is relatively idle.
The recording is an MPEG2 stream from a HDHomeRun Prime, if that matters.
