New to plex, tons of mp3s very organized but for some reason plex will not show my local genre or year tags in my files. Any way to fix this? Every other server and client sees my tags fine. Thanks.
I think we’re just fixing up at least the year thing. If you can upload a sample file for us we’ll look into the genre!
Sure here is one example file. This is in the same format as almost all my library, which all other media clients and servers have not had any troubles reading all the tags. Thanks for the help.

Genre’s do not show up in iOS or Windows app on home network or over the internet. The Genre’s show up fine in every other app and OS out there, only Plex doesn’t show them.
Also, please note if I look at the iTunes channel the Genres do show up as expected.
We’ll have a fix for that shortly in the Local Media Agent to read the genre.

Any help getting Genres to show up? Is there a way I can edit the Scanners.bundle to add Genres? Any help would be really appreciated!!
I don’t get Genre’s anywhere when using Plex, otherwise they show up fine.
I’m using Ubuntu for the PMS and also have problems with music genres not getting scraped / not showing up.
Maybe unrelated: Does Plex use the mp3 tag information for media analysis?!
