I was searching my music for Musicals for my daughter the other day and noticed that nothing was showing and that I only had around 15 Genres in my music - I’ve just double checked my files and I definitely have Genres set as Musicals / Soundtracks etc which are not pulling in
The music is all there and tagged correctly otherwise, just the Genres are missing
Can anyone advise how I can get it to use these Genres as they are tagged in the files?

How is this drop-down selector set in your library’s properties?
Is “Prefer Local Meta Tags” activated or not?
Ah - not like that!
I thought i’d seen those options before buit I was struggling to find them - expected them to be in the server library settings page…
I’m going to set the Genre to be local and then see how that works out before I default to local on everything! Thanks 
Edit: hmm… I’ve rescanned the library after changing that and it doesn’t seem to have changed much 
Careful with the latter. (unless you are ready to burn down your library and start from scratch)
It requires your meta tags to be in excellent shape and in particular to not disagree with the folder organization. Music compilations, file metatdata, what Plex needs to discover and show them - #2 by beckfield

Am I missing a step to get it to scan the new genres? I told it to rescan but the genres seem unchanged?
“Refresh Metadata” on the album or artist level.
