geo location?

i just saw that the buttler told me ( i think) that he was finished reverse geo locating…
this has me a little concerned, as im not sure why this would be… well at all.
i know i can stream shows based on my location, but as set by me, isnt it?
im not sure how i feel about the buttler looking up where i live, can anyone else way in on what this is about?

The butler is not looking up where you live.
When you have a photo library in Plex,
and you have photos in there which were tagged by the camera with geographic coordinates, then Plex can look up the place of these coordinates. This is to help you categorise and find your photos.
You are then able to search your photos for e.g. “all photos in City X”

And the feature is optional.

under Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks you can disable the Butler job that performs the lookup

under Settings - Server - Library you can determine if the results of the location lookup are only visible to you or also to other shared users as well.

In the properties of your photo library you can disable the storing of location names in the library (on the ‘Advanced’ tab), which allows you to selectively enable the feature when you have several photo libraries.

thanx for a great (and reasuring) awnser. it takes a load off my mind and also teaches me how to plex even better.
