Question about photos & location

I got the email about new new feature when uploading pictures, they they would now show where they were taken. I have the tagging turned on for all my pictures, but when I uploaded them, and then pulled up the new photo album on my TV, it just showed the pictures, do I need to do something special to make this work? Add them to groups ?? What am I missing?

Yup. Only Plex Pass folks need to see such information I guess.

The forum setup and segragation here is just beyond stupid.

What’s a single good reason why that forum can’t be at least read-only for everyone?

That link leads to a forum that is limited to Plex Pass owners. Would you mind pasting the info here?

OK, post copied over here:

This feature is exclusive to Plex Pass owners.

The switch on this feature has been flipped just a short time ago.
So currently, none of your photos will have any location names attached to it.

Do this:
In Plex Web go to Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks
and see if this item appears at the end of the list: “Fetch missing location names for items in photo sections”
If it appears, ‘check’ it (if it isn’t already)

If it does not appear, do first restart your Plex Server
and after a few minutes close your web browser and re-open it and load the web app fresh from this URL: https://app.plex.tv/desktop

Afterwards, ‘edit’ your photo library, go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and verify that “Save location names” is checked

Now you are set.

You can wait for the Server maintenance period
or
you can ‘Refresh Metadata’ for your photo library
Both will start the location-lookup process.

Personally, I recommend going for the first option.

Keep in mind that this will only work for photos which have geographic coordinates embedded in their files. So this requires the camera to have GPS.

There is an additional setting which decides if only the admin or other users as well can see the position data:
Settings - Server - Library - ‘Location visibility’

This is a very amusing comment coming from the person with a hundred posts over the last week “ever so politely” raising their concerns with the PMP 2.1 interface.

Such doozies as:

“You’ve already degraded the Roku app with the blurred backgrounds that can’t be turned off. Please do NOT screw it up further with the mingled servers. If you simply must, please give us the option to turn it the hell off.”

Please go back into your hole.
