The problem:
The problems listed below do not apply to the channels that are labeled AVCHD on hdhomerun channel list.
- I am not getting any video (blank screen WITH audio) when opening some live channels on plex app running on PC A, PC B, Phone or Android TV (see below)
- I am not getting any video (blank screen) when opening live channels on chrome browser running on PC A, PC B or Phone (see below)
What I have:
- (Server)
Windows PC using as server running windows 10 pro, i7 7700k, 16gb ram and plex server version 1.9.6.4385. I have movies stored in this pc and live tv setup with some channels disabled because could not get the epg to work with all the channels enabled. - (PC-A)
Windows PC using as client outside the home network running windows 10 home with chrome browser, and plex app from windows store - (PC-B)
Windows PC using as client inside the home network running windows 10 pro with chrome browser, and plex app from windows store - (Phone)
Android phone with nougat running plex app - (Android TV)
Nvidia shield tv inside the home network running plex app and live channels app. - (HDHomeRun)
Hdhomerun connected to home network with cablecard from verizon fios.
I can do:
- Play movies with direct play, direct stream or conversion on windows pc outside of the network or inside the network using the plex app or the chrome browser
- Play movies with direct play, direct stream or conversion on android phone outside of the network or inside the network using the chrome mobile browser or the plex app.
- Open the channels using the hdhomerun setup app using windows media player
- Open the channles using the hdhomerun app from microsoft app store
- Open the channels on shield tv using live channels dvr app with no issues.
- Open the channels on shield tv using hdhomerun app
Things to note:
- I was not able to open any channels even on the server using the windows media player before I installed a code pack called combined community codec pack 64bit. I was having the same audio with no video issue on the server. I restarted the server after installing the codec many times.
- When I look at “now playing” section I normally see if the video that is being watched by the client is being converted or not, but with the mentioned channels (those without the avchd) do not show anything for video. It says “converting” then it says audio transcoding ac3 to aac. Video section is missing.
- I had a machine with i5 2500k, 8gb ram with windows 7 ultimate before doing a major upgrade to the server.
- I now have i7 7700k, 16gb ram with windows 10 pro.
- I was not having any issues with plex running on the windows 7 machine.
