I recently setup my Plex Media Server. I am also a Plex Pass subscriber. I setup my DVR using a HDHomerun Connect and everything went well with the initial setup. When I try to watch live TV, the screen is blank but I do have audio. I tried to record just to see if the DVR is working but Plex crashes when it tries to record.
I ran the HDHomerun app to view live tv and I have both audio and video. I an not sure if this is a transcoding issue or there is a setting I need to modify. The rest of the setup is working as expected, the videos I have in the libraries are playing smoothly in my network and over the net. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hey, I’ve got a thread I started a few days ago with the exact same issue; works through the HDHomerun app, but only audio in plex! Hopefully we start to hear from developers soon!
I am having this problem as well with the Hauppauge DualTuner HD. This said answered, but I don’t know if that was referring to Hamish’s reply. Has there been any movement on this?
For some reason mine started working yesterday, I am getting video along with the audio. The DVR was not recording citing transcoder issue so I restarted the computer I am using for the server and on reboot the first thing it asked was to whitelist Java on the firewall. After that the DVR was also recording. All in all everything is running smoothly but I would still what to know how the issue got resolved, was it just Java that was blocking the video?
I had the same issue with a HDHomeRun PRIME and Windows 10.0.15063] I had to revert to the previous version of Plex server (Plex-Media-Server-1.8.1.4139-c789b3fbb). 1.9.3.4290-9798172d4 also crashed after startup unless I deleted the EPG database. It would start crashing again once the EPG was updated.
Also, note there is an update to HDHomeRun software, though I didn’t install it in time to test whether it was issue with Plex crashes (I doubt it).

I have the exact same problem. I have the HDHomerun Connect. It works flawlessly with the HDHomeRun software but, no matter where I play it through Plex, i get only audio, and a black screen. This includes an android phone, and windows 10 PC. I also did a firmware upgrade to the latest for the HDHomerun Connect, and have the latest plex media server. No luck…

Same here. HDHomerun connect with the latest firmware. I have the latest plex media server. I am a lifetime member and I am disappointed that I cannot get this to work as I just dumped some coin into the hardware. It works flawlessly in the HDHome Run app, but will only give me audio on android phone and windows 10 laptop. I was hoping the firmware upgrade on the HDHomerun connect would solve it but, it did not. I thought I was being smart by buying what plex suggested for hardware including HDHomerun connect, and also the antenna. Not sure what to do next…
In the other thread it seems to be acknowledged that this is a known bug with PMS 1.9.3. The solution is to roll back to 1.9.2 and wait there until 1.9.4 is released.
