I have (had) 2 Media servers one in Ireland (on Windows 11) and the other in France (Ras pi - holiday home). I lost connectivity to the France server a couple of days ago and was getting all sorts of strange errors when trying to diagnose.
The most fundemental is “Your connection isn’t private” when trying to connect to https://plex.tv from french server in browser and also from Windows PC in France. Pinging plex.tv from France gives 54.73.99.55 as the IP. nslookup gives:
Server: unifi.localdomain
Address: 192.168.4.1 - this is local router which points to Bouygues Telecom (my ISP)
When I try the same thing from the Ireland based server (using Windows Remot Desktop connection) I have no SSL issues and when I ping plex.tv the IP is 52.209.82.108. nslookup gives:
Attempting to log into https://forums.plex.com does trigger the “Your connection isn’t private” because it first redirects to https://plex.tv for the login process
Is this a Plex problem or somewhere else in the system?
I already messed up the France based linux server trying to resolve the issues. So I wiped it and will reinstall tomorrow. Not a big deal.
Do you have any thoughts on why I get SSL error when I try the URL from the France ISP? See below. This is messing up all update and/or reinstallation steps because the authentication steps redirect to https://plex.tv. Are 54.73.99.55 and 54.72.14.50 valid Pleax IP addresses with missing SSL certs or is the DNS in France pointing to the wrong IPs?
