Globally Rename "TV Shows" to "Series", heres why

The word “TV Show” makes no sense in the digital age.
The word “Series” has been growing vastly, even Netflix has adopted using it instead of TV Shows in the latest android apps.

“Series” makes more sense over “TV Shows” and it introduces less confusion in the UI Between “TV”/“Live TV” and “TV Shows” especially in the scheduled recordings and such where TV Show could be used quite commonly.

Just my opinion atleast.

This sounds like a common sense idea that just flew under the radar.

Series is limiting, as this implies a certain subset of television content. This doen not include Sports/Documentaries/News. I’d rather suggest “Shows”

The “TV” prefix notwithstanding, the main issue is that many people use “show” for one-off broadcasts as well. As long as it’s on TV, they call it a “tv show”.

For plex, it is rather important to make a clear separation between one-off items and a series of items which are connected, because they require two different library types.

Here in the UK we always refer to series where the US refers to “season”.

Another unfortunate circumstance. The term we are looking for should describe the entity of the ‘TV show’ and therefore not only one season but all of them combined.

Dont get mixed up, “Season” and “Series” are NOT the same thing at all

For the British, apparently they are.

Rlly not true… Can pretty much confirm

Yep I agree with @nigelpb. As a 50 something year old I never anticipated a “new season” it was always a new series .

That said in these days of Plex, Netflix etc… it’s becoming more common to use season now.
I know I do. Ten years ago nobody called them seasons over here in the UK.
