Grid Update

True true. It’s just not worth developing for at this point.

@kinoCharlino The ‘HD only’ selection is not getting all HD channels and is including many SD channels too:

Here is what Plex thinks when ‘HD channels only’ is selected:

For example, cbbc hd is missing. Yet, plex displays this HD channel in the ‘All’ view. 1-44 are NOT HD channels, nor is 231 or 710. The QVC HD channels are missing too; there should only be 17 HD channels, yet plex displays 8. ITV is missing too, as is 4seven HD.

What absolutely astounding logic you demonstrated there! In any case, I for one am not holding my breath for analog support. It’s a dying technology.

Just one small problem with your logic you do know that everything that is recorded started out as analog and still is display as analog, So I have say that is one technology that never die LoL unless you plan on not seeing anything or hearing sound.
Us satellite user don’t have min option and one them is so crappy it ain’t funny “DirecTV UI” your always welcome to stop AT&T Community and have few laughs with us on just how bad it is and Dish ain’t no angel it be nice if could get device work like cable card but for satellite, and Also like point min cable user that are using cable card may also have at lease one analog STB for channel that they can’t record from with HDHomeRun Prime.

That because even knows Plex don’t support it and everyone that ask about it we turn them towards SageTV or NextPVR.

@Afullmark is the show currently airing on that channel reported as HD?

On ITV, yes.

I’m seeing exactly the same in the UK. Missing quite a few HD channels from the grid view such as ITV

@Afullmark, thanks for reporting the issue. Engineering has an idea of what it could be and is investigating. Thanks @johnm_ColaSC for beating me to the punch and reporting it to the team

You might want to research that yourself as this is not true.

@kinoCharlino Grid is Amazing great work from Plex getting this out and it was worth the wait!!! The only feedback I have now is the record icon should either be different or not display for shows that it is not actually recording. Example shown below. In the image below the only time it is going to record something is “So You Think You Can Dance” from 8-9pm… but at a quick glance it looks like it is recording Running Wild at 8-9 and 9-10 and So you think you can dance from 8-9 and from 9-10… I know its displaying the series is set to record but when you check the box to only record new shows the grid view should also reflect that…

@Pyrotech1620 both are showing as New episodes in your screenshot. Once the first one ends the second one will probably be cancelled since it is showing as the same season/episode. However, the series indicator should show on all episodes that are part of a series recording whether they will be recorded or not. For example, I am recording 9-1-1, in my grid I see it is schedule for tonight at 9:00 pm. But the episode is already in my library so this episode will not record as shown in the image below. Image shows grid guide on top, Library episode on left under grid view, and recording schedule for tonight to the right.

Last time check
The signal for human eye is input as analog.
The signal for human ear is input as analog.
Those doctor can’t even seem to make there own mind any way, but it awful funny that signal chart seem show it to be more like analog a really highly advanced from of analog as internal to the neuron, everything works via biochemical pathways, which are somewhat similar to analog. Neurons also perform internal electrical signal integration in an analog fashion, and take in to count that I’m part blind and deaf and had deal with my whole life and lean few things over the years.
Look up EMG Signal or this page Cybernetic Robotics or just look in to Advanced Tech Visual prosthesis and Hearing prosthesis

AWESOME SAUCE!!!

Now we just need it on the apps…

Bug ----
Load the grid screen, see single entry at 10PM for Chicago Tonight. Go to any other Plex screen, like recordings, and come back, and the entry is doubled, now at 10 and 10:30. Jay’s Chicago is on at 10:30 according to Zaptoit, and if I exit Plex Web and come back in, only one entry at 10PM for Chicago Tonight is correctly shown

again.

FYI, no other programs are doubling like this, and it is also actually being recorded right now, so that is the other difference possibly related.

I did once also see it tripled and the following two programs doubled, but haven’t been able to repeat that.

But, I do like it a lot!

Strangely coincident with this, the graphic for NBC Nightly News changed back to Brian Williams from Lester Holt?! I was able to revert it, but never changed it in the first place.

@cortopassi - I’m unable to reproduce your issue.
Firefox 60.0.1 (64bit), Ublock Origin, Win10Pro 1709
Multiple browser window sizes tried/no zoom.

Further details, see time shift on the doubling of Chicago Tonight. Jay’s Chicago (correct at 10:30) shifts to 11PM when the time is shifted back to show history.

I’m in the states and use CableCards via a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime with Plex. This issue you outlined seems like it might explain the bug that I was seeing.

My Cable channel lineup has both HD and SD channels that mostly mirror each other (though not exactly). In the new Plex web grid guide clicking on an HD channel would result in the SD channel counterpart / complementary channel being tuned instead.

This would happen only in the web interface but not for scheduled recording.

So for example if I select “watch now” from the grid guide on channel 550 BBCA HD ( BBC America HD) the web guide would tune to and display channel 126 BBCA SD (BBC America SD).

I hope you all will add the option to custom the columns and rows

Out of curiosity: why? What’s missing or different from what you need? Thanks!

  • Sort rows - I would like to be able to sort as it is sorted on my TV.
  • Friendly Name - I would like to give channels a friendly name as EPG provider shortens everything like “ProSieben” is “6 PRO7GRH”, quite unreadble
  • More kind of quick jumps (similar to “now”, for example: primetime) - to lookup what will be on TV at a certain time

Your original response was to analog TV not the eye or brain. I haven’t seen or used an “analog” TV in many years. Much of what is recorded these days starts as digital vs film. It’s stored digital, transmitted digital, broadcast OTA as digital vs analog these days, etc.

But yea, the end result might be “analog” in the sense of using our eyes, ears and brains. I’ll give you that one. LOL

what is the deal with the guide showing multiple showings for shows for hours that are not there. for the today show as an example it shows it from 7-9 then 9-11 then megyn kelly nearly all shows are showing double an tripled. it has the guide all screwed up.
