Is there any news yet on the normal grid view with tv schedule feature on the plex pass yet?
Well probably see it in a few years, at the rate it keeps getting pushed to the side like its not important i wouldn’t expect it for a while. Recording things correctly on a specific channel is troublesome without grid.

Ive just learned not to get my hopes up with the plex team, grid has been pushed back multiple times, each time with a BS excuse. Just being realistic, that post means nothing, guarantee we wont see grid till at least end of this year, even that is wishful thinking.
i`ll expect to see it around the same time as a working plex sync…wait for both been so long Ive canceled my plex pass
I would definitely like to +1 Grid View. The guide data for certain channels is off sometimes and being able to target channel and time would be beneficial. Not to mention that it’s just plain easier-to-use. Come on, Plex! Please move this up on the priority list.

Quite right,…
You know, this reminds me of a sketch or two from “The Kids in the Hall”. Anyone remember “The Kids in the Hall” sketch “Slipped my mind”.
You can probably find them on youtube, funny as hell. Although the given situation we find ourselves in with Grid View is anything but funny at this point.
BTW, Q2 will have come and gone in about ~44 days,…
Anyone care to place your bets on how this is going to go.
I can understand why so many people want Grid view, I was the same at first. However I have got used to the Plex way of doing things and actually prefer it to a grid view. Much easier to browse all the upcoming movies for the week, rather than wading through a massive grid looking for them. The same goes for a channel, I can quickly see what’s on BBC this week browse through the shows, and pick what I want to record. I appreciate it may depend on your channel line up and guide data as to how it works for you all, But it seems to work well here on the UK on Freeview. It’s just a matter of getting your head around how the screens, the sorting and filtering works.
My bet is that in 3 weeks they’re going to update that post about the Grid View, saying that it’s their greatest priority but they were focused on fixing DVR bugs, so Grid View was postponed to Q4.

I’ve always advocated in one way or another for the way Plex does things in this respect. That is to say I don’t seek to have it replaced with Grid View but rather have the Grid View complement the current Plex way of navigation.
IMO, in this respect, the best approach is to have flexibility and an intuitive nature. The omission of a Grid View in many ways compromises the intuitive way that many people navigate such media and the same can be said about flexibility.
Now I agree with much of what you said. However, your description of a use case seems more geared to one of discovery, as in “I want to watch / record something like a movie but I don’t know what, when and where”. This is different then my use case since I typically know exactly what I want to watch / record as well as know the day, time and the channel.
There is a rather significant difference between a user that is wondering what they can watch and a user that already knows.
For a user that is just browsing, having to navigate a full Guide Grid for every channel and every hour would be daunting. Which is one of the reasons why I suggested it should be additive not a replacement.
For users who have a better sense of what they want to watch (day, time, channel) a Grid View is a powerful tool.
Bottom line, people shouldn’t be forced to do things only one way. Nor should the navigation system feel like a handful of tools that are loosely cobbled together.
Yep, for example if I want to tune to Fox News, CNN or MSNBC it’s overly difficult to do on many clients because there is no easy way to jump to a specific channel. For me on cable these 3 channels are all next to each other which also makes it easy to scan all three to see what “news” they might be covering.
Trying to do something simple like this in Plex has always been a daunting task.

I totally agree. The very basics seem to be missing or so hard to use that it’s…useless. I have a remote I used with WMC and it doesn’t work at all. I really like plex and want it to work out for us but I had a more usable system back in 2012.
It launches today! See this: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/298470/grid-view-update-for-dvr-program-guide#latest
After the Grid View update today, all of the channels are giving me a playback error. Stating that it is unable to tune. I didn’t know what to locate in the error log that would identify what the issue is.

Please try to refresh your EPG in the DVR settings an also quit/restart PMS. Thanks!

Is the grid layout working for Roku as well? I’m not at home to take a look.

Not yet. It’s out only for Plex Web today.
