Group Movies like Indiana Jones, Saw, etc...

Interesting to learn about the Sorting field.

However Box Set presentations is ideal. Looking forward to this being implemented!

I would love this feature, as well.  It's one of the top things I miss from XBMC.  I already have all my media in "Collection" folders and "Sort By" names, which is supported by XBMC, Media Center Master, Media Browser 3, etc.

I can't understand why this and Parental Controls have been long requested and not implemented in PleX.

Would be great to have this, one of the things I really liked about XBMC.

How crazy that only people who pay can request changes yet most of plex users don't have Plex passes, so this means that although most people want this, only a few can request it so the people who make the changes think it's not important.

Personally I think it was one of the best bits of XBMC. If XBMC could share over wifi/mobile network to the app (like Plex can) then I would go back in a heartbeat.

Hello,

I'm new on Plex, change from XBMC (to test Plex App on Samsung SmartTV).

And this features, grouping movies into saga/subfolders,  is one of those that I miss most.

looks like this is not going to happen. Was going to buy a year pass but will now be looking at going back to XBMC and running with Mysql data base, this will have all Plex offers and more

+1 to this just a bump to keep this alive. Hopefully one day it will get implemented.

I would love to see this feature implemented, I think it would provide a drastic improvement to movies section.

+1 from me .... Please add movie grouping like with TV shows

Thanks

I would also love to see this feature implemented. Here's to hoping it will someday happen!

This feature Needs to happen...

I too just started using this System and Without the Movie Grouping its really a mess to deal with probably more so for me as I have over 2000+ movies

on my server and its not an easy thing to manually create collections which really serves no purpose unless your looking for that specific collection which is rarely how I watch a movie...

I would much rather have the movies grouped together so it cleans up the Library which is the part I think some people here who have offered suggestions are overlooking the importance of, maybe its not that necessary for most people but the handful of people that need this are likely the ones using the system the most...

I will likely put this system aside till this is addressed as there are other systems out there as new Alternatives to the Old XBMC which works great but without the Sync/server option...

Otherwise a Very Nice System that I hope to revisit some day...

hey i think i found this - i´m trying this

The Metadata Agent of TheMovieDatabase has a setting for "Use collection info from The Movie Database". The Metadata Agent can automatically import TheMovieDatabase movie sets.

that does work but it tends to have sometimes random collections that are not optimal.

This thread is about wanting them combined into a single item so that when you are scrolling through movies and land on James Bond you only see one listing that you can easily skip past ( so you don't have to scroll through 23 James Bond movies ) or you can expand it to see all those moves. the collections as they are currently implemented are pretty much just a tag to filter on

BigWheel your description is exactly what we need. There are more a more movies now days that are part of a collection like hunger games and the avengers. This cannot be to hard to implement. TV series already do this and so does other platforms like Movie Browser and XBMC.

I think this thread is not being heard by the Plex team.

I was a paid member but have cancelled and will be looking back to movie browser.

this thread ( and the many other describing the same thing ) is being read by the plex team but they simply do not respond because they do not promise anything. there are literally hundreds of requests for various things every one says "must be easy" but they can't do them all at the same time.

Man, just spent a couple of hours trying to get my movies grouped together, figured there had to be a way. Blows me away how much plex can do without being able to do something as simple as this. Such a no brainer feature that would clean up all of our libraries. Really would love to see this, I just can't believe it's not already there. I could have sworn this was a feature a couple of years ago.

+1 from me. We really need this feature added to Plex and as a new user I was surprised that it was missing.

Glad to know that the Plex team hears us, they just don't care to stoop low enough from the heavens for us to hear their angelic voices.

Honestly the seeming lack of care from the Dev team makes me sick.  Nine times out of ten when I'm looking for support on an issue I come across a forum post like this one, several years stale and with no reply from the developers.  You don't implement the most basic of features, and when you do you only release them to the premium customers.  Why would I pay for a product that might possibly have the features I want now in 5 years? Sometimes I wonder if they understand that typically users pay for a product that is already stable.

At least in this thread they deigned to send their Mortal Mouthpiece, Bigwheel, so thatst their ethereal voices doth not destroy our fragile minds, to explain that the dev's can't take the time to look through the forum posts of us disgusting basic members, and that we're too dumb to understand the difference between acknowledging your user base and promising them features and time tables.

I'm so tired of the endless errors, hangs, bizarre bugs, unimplemented features and uncaring dev team.  I'm about to put plex to the side for a couple years again and wait for it to catch up with common sense.
