Group Movies like Indiana Jones, Saw, etc...

I have no idea how many developers are working on Plex... But as I do development myself on my free time, (2h to max 3h a day, about two or three days a week), I understand that the team cannot handle everything... So, IMHO, the missing feature requested here cannot hide those already delivered. My understanding (but I only guess) is that the team possibly wants now to offer support for more platforms (as per recent info on the blog)... more platforms means more members, more funds, more developers... more features :).

I have used other products (Media Center 3 years, MediaBrowser 6 years, DS Video 1 year, XBMC 2 years) and I still find Plex better (although I didn't retry MediaBrowser since ~01/2014). My personal opinion is that Plex is easy to use (including for kids < 7 years old and my wife :D), stable (it nevers freezed my Windows PC), really user-friendly... It runs since more than a year, at home, on a PC (DYI), a HTPC (NUC), a tablet (Acer), my mobile (OnePlus One) and my Smart TV (Samsung). And we use it for at least 2 to 3 hours every day... So, my experience is really at the opposite of your experience.

Finally, it didn't cost me a lot compared to other pieces of software (only 60$ for a lifetime subscription!). That being said, the free version fits the needs of many of my friends...

What we are missing regarding the votes, is a room where would be moved the features that becomes part of the roadmap...

I agree with Dedicated Member the PLEX system is very good compared to other platforms and I very much appreciate all the effort people contribute to this system, especially people that work on this for free. So thank you all for your effort.

I have not had any issues with the PLEX server. I have it running on all my TV's using the Raspberry pi on all. It has never crashed and always connects to the server flawlessly. I also stream the movies to my mobile dongle when not at home and this work's very well. Some time's i get a loss of signal but this is more likely the dongle rather than the PLEX server.

I would much appreciate the move collection feature we are all asking for. I appreciate that a lot of work has been done around the multi platform feature and this will pull in revenue which will allow more features to be added quicker.

I only hope the movie collection feature like what Media Browser offers is within the next PLEX release.

For now I would like to say thank you to all the team for the efforts so far.

if you have a Plex Pass and haven't voted please do so here https://forums.plex.tv/topic/81160-movie-collections/

The Plex team and the software they make is amazing! But it can also be frustrating as a customer to see simple, high-demand feature requests unaddressed for years.

It's like if your uncle is a handyman and you ask him to fix your sink. Then you come home the next day and he's added a new sunroom to the back of your house. It's gorgeous! But... your sink is still broken...

I just started evaluating Plex and I have to say this one missing feature is a deal killer for me.  This is basic functionality here, not some esoteric feature that will be used by few.  What's being asked for here, or at the very least navigable subfolders, is something that should have existed long ago if usability were a top priority.  Best of all, it's easy to implement in a way that has NO effect on those who aren't clamoring for it.  I'm not going to say it's easy to code, though, because I'm not that arrogant.

Open since 2011... wow. I mirror everything said in this thread.

Full of praise for the Plex team. The service is beautiful, reliable, and has come a long way since I started using it about 5yrs ago! But it is very disappointing to see this thread with such a popular feature request go ignored by the developers.

I'm guessing the team could knock this out on a lazy afternoon!!

**There is a function to create collections, but I can't find any way of viewing by collection, so what is the point of it?**

collection is a filter just like genre

Thanks, I did eventually find that after some googling!

The fact that I had to google shows how poorly the “collection” function has been implemented, very cumbersome. Everyone in this thread has got the right idea, when scrolling through the library, all videos belonging to a collection should have one image representing that collection, which can be clicked on to reveal the individual movies within.

Instead of 20+ James Bond movies displayed individually in my main library, just give me one James Bond poster to represent the collection. Simples.

I don't care what you've tested and worked with, I don't care what you've developed.  I'm a developer and coder too, that doesn't make you or me an expert on the matter. And just because other media servers lack MORE features than plex doesn't make plex amazing. If you show me the shiniest piece of ■■■■ in the toilet that's great, but it's still a piece of ■■■■.  If you put the roof on the house before you set its foundation then it's a ■■■■■■ house.  Plex is the prettiest, shiniest ■■■■ house on the market.

LOL

If I find a big sapphire with ■■■■ on it, I will take it anyway   :P

So whats the bottom line? Is there someone from plex to respond here?

So whats the bottom line? Is there someone from plex to respond here?

They are not going to respond, Plex does not say yes or no to feature requests

This is not a feature request. This is essentially the most important bug in plex. I simply cannot believe that after so many years they have not fixed this simple bug.

They must think that it should work the way it does now which is very sad cause it simply is not fulfilling my needs. Collections is the biggest joke to this problem as you have to click several times to see them. This is all about the overview when you go into your library. And currently there is no overview.

I would like to see this to at some point, but I also understand the devs have a lot going on.

+1

Would be a great feature

+1

This would be great. Maybe even given the option to group and ungroup much like how splitting duplicate versions of movies into separate occurrences work.

Sheesh kebab. 4yrs and still not resolved... :/

While I'd like to see this feature added, so I can play around with it, I hope it is added as an option. I have my metadata setup to auto-create collections, which is nice for reference but I'd hate to have all of them replace individual film cover art.

Yeah, they find it hard to decide what to screw up in the next release!
