Group Movies like Indiana Jones, Saw, etc...

Yeah, they find it hard to decide what to screw up in the next release!

Ouch!

Ouch!

Sorry, but it certainly seems that way at the moment, two steps forward, one step back. Not easy when there are now numerous client platforms. What Plex Inc need is a period of consolidation, forget fancy features and trying to get Plex onto every device in existence, get PMS, PHT, Plex for iOS, Plex for Android and Plex for Windows back to stability. Then move forward.

Regards

So I assume this has been implemented, right?

Any info on this?

Thanks

I just posted another thread about this before seeing this long one. Another way to ā€œgroupā€ movies in a Library, in a very simple way, is to create another field called ā€œSort Titleā€ and to allow users to edit that. When the library is created, it should default to the same as the actual title. But if a user wants, they can edit them to their liking. So Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park can have Sort Titles of ā€œJurassic Park 1ā€ and ā€œJurassic Park 2ā€ which will put them grouped together in the J’s, and still show their ACTUAL titles.

I’ve seen other media apps do this. Works very well, and allows users some control on the sequential order of their libraries.

Request back on 2011. 4 years and counting.

Any update on this? I’d love to be able to justify the plex pass but it’s hard for the moment. This would definitely sweeten the deal

Hey guys. There are literally hundreds of requests some much older than this. It’s not being being ignored or written off but I do not have any sort of date it will be done and I cannot promise one.

Sort field already exists. Can be edited manually but doesn’t work with NFO’s. Been covered numerous times already, nothing’s changed.

+1

Need this as well.
My entire movie overview is floated with all the James Bond movies… That’s not an overview!

The day this feature is implemented is the day that I buy my lifetime PlexPass!

Would be a great gift for the holiday season.

Plex needs this feature! I have recently moved to Plex from Emby (Media Browser) I like Plex alot and have the a Plex Pass but Emby is more flexible in how it can display your library. It lets yo have a folder within the library of groups of films like all the James Bonds, which is great. Saves you having 27 James Bond films taking over your library.

Plex please introduce this feature. Is the only problem I have with Plex

Can any one tell us if there is a particular difficulty in coding this? I would have thought that as the TV Shows library can do this, it would be possible to make the Movie library do the same. Even if I have to make some folder and change some movie names.

That was my thought too.

This could solve so many needs. Not only those looking to combine large groups of related movies (Star Wars, Bond, etc) but also those wishing other categorization (Anime, Horror, etc). If done properly, a movie could exist in more than one collapsed group.

As the single top-level of my movie list continues to grow, something like this becomes increasingly useful.

Is there any way to start a pole on this topic? I think we need to show how many of use would really like this function developed and how useful it would be to all of us :)>-

I agree! It’s a must!

I believe there is a way for plex pass members to vote on feature requests, but may be mistaken. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

A poll will add nothing new, this feature has been asked for/discussed/ignored(?) since the cocoa based server was first launched. We can only hope.

Definitely +1 on this request. Being a saga fan, my collection becomes quite unmanageable with time. My comment might not add much to the discussion but I hope it helps keeping focus on the feature request.
