right now I have a GTX750TI in my plex server for trans coding using (nvenc)
I have a 1050TI that have in a PC I don’t use much would there be any boost in visual quality if I pop in the 1050TI in for transcoding?
Performance:
The 1050Ti supports decoding of HEVC video. The 750Ti does not. If you transcode any HEVC/H.265 video the decode would occur on 1050Ti instead of the CPU. Reference: Video Encode and Decode GPU Support Matrix.
Quality:
Unsure if there would be any visual quality improvements. Since the 1050Ti is a newer card, one would think the quality would be improved over the older generation (*). However, I did some quick Google searches such as “NVENC Pascal quality” (1050Ti) and “NVENC Maxwell quality” (750Ti) and did not find anything definitive.
(*) Not always true. Based on search results, the general consensus seems to be that the Volta cards are no better than Pascal for video decode/encode.
yeah that’s the wall i hit as well i guess ill have to do some bench runs and see…
