I have an aging server. I use Unraid with a Phenom 1045T 6 core CPU with a passmark of about 4800. It works well enough for most things. However, Transcoding 4k is not one of them. I am thinking of dropping in an nvidia GPU to help it along.
The trouble is, my server is in a 2U case. So the only options it seems that I have may be a low profile 1050, as I do not think a LP 1070 was made. So my question is, how does the 1050 compare to the 1070, or 1070TI for hardware transcoding? Depending on the answer, I may consider upgrading to a 4U case and just rebuilding the server entirely…
