Guest Access to a single video that automatically expires

I’d like to give guest access to a single video file. I don’t want to make them a user. Don’t want them to see the other content. Can you add the feature to be able to create a one time guest link that expires automatically after a preset amount of time?

I assume this isn’t about the guest user within your Plex Home but sharing media to users who don’t have a Plex account?

If so, this has been suggested before and was rejected by Plex as it’s moving the setup in an area close too close to file sharing.

I could see this as more of a rental link. You get a link, click it, the movie plays using plex web from the hosts server. The file isn’t actually shared, just streamed one time or expires after x amount of time.

“Rental” implies commercial use.
Commercial use of Plex is forbidden.

Well sure, I get that, but we don’t have to take the word rental so literally  I simply meant it’s similar in the idea. Nobody is exchanging money in this hypothetical scenario.

Two things here.

First - this currently exists today for other Plex users as Single Item Access. It is not widely used and is not currently built into the new experience. However, it is currently still available in places like the web client.

Second - as already mentioned here, providing access via some sort of a guest link to non-users is a no-go. See tom80H’s comment for context. There are plenty of free services available for file sharing and viewing that could solve one-off scenarios.
