Guide and Schedule Recordings on Plex Media Player for Windows

Please, please, please get the Live TV, Guide and Schedule Recordings working on the Plex Media Player for Windows. It would also be nice if a default DVR recording folder be configured so that during the action of a user going to record the folder selection doesn’t get in the way.

If a question is required… when will these features be put into the Plex Media Player for Windows?

You’ll know about it as soon as Plex announces its availability and not any sooner…

I was hoping for an answer from someone at Plex. You provided no official or useful information that I would consider credible and you were rude about it. You might have as well told me that my question wasn’t important and how dare I ask it. There’s really no reason to be condescending for such a straightforward and honest request.

Plex does not announce timelines on product releases, you will see this same comment echoed on just about every thread asking about new features. Many on here grow tired of new users posting wanting to know when a feature will be released. We find out about new features when the Release Announcement is posted or we get a Marketing email announcing new features.

John, I understand now that many on here may grow tired of comments about new features. There’s a couple of problems with this.

  1. The features that I am asking about already exist. They aren’t new.
  2. This is my question to Plex.
  3. Other users growing tired of new users has nothing to do with my question. The feeling of other forum users doesn’t have a direct relationship to my question or the answer to it. Furthermore, there is no reason to be rude to old users or new users. New users might as well not post anything if there is fear that their question might make existing users grow tired. Please consider that there are users with legitimate questions and shutting those questions with a “you shouldn’t have asked that” isn’t helpful.
  4. I’ve read the Community Guidelines. Anyone who feels upset over my question may want to check that out. This is supposed to be a friendly forum. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/220049328

I ask you to please respect my question and right to ask it. Thank you.

It would be a new feature to Plex Media Player since it is not currently available on that platform. Currently it is a feature for other platforms but has not been released as a feature for PMP.
  1. This is my question to Plex.
Good luck getting an actual Plex Employee to answer questions posted. Most questions are answered by other users on the forum.

I was responding to your post to the other user in which you said his reply was rude and not helpful. As was originally stated Plex does not announce feature requests.

I respect your right to ask the question and I am not upset you asked the question but it was answered by @darcilicious. I was trying to ease your feelings with my response to your post quoting his response. When Plex releases the Live TV and Program Guide option for Plex Media Player we will all find out about it and won’t hear about it until it is released. If you would like to wait for an “Official Plex Employee” response then leave this question unanswered.

I’m running PMP for Mac 2.1.0.74-8e24a8f4 and it’s got the Schedule and Guide:

@ChrisAWallace after seeing your post I downloaded and installed PMP for Windows and I have it as well. I don’t use PMP so did not have it installed on my computer. Now makes me wonder why this question was even posted if it is already a feature in PMP. However I can’t find any mention of this being added to PMP in the release announcement or the blog post regarding the new 2.1 version.

So now the question is why doesn’t @karlsnyder0 see the option. Going to assume he has the Windows Store app installed instead of the Plex Pass version available from plex.tv/downloads.

The “desktop” interface in PMP has the DVR things, as it’s just the normal web app. The TV interface doesn’t yet have any DVR / live TV functionality. As for when this might land, I don’t know, and Plex do not give release timelines, so your guess is as good as mine!

Ok I see the problem. The Live TV, Schedule Recording and Program Guide isn’t implemented in Full Screen mode. (Unless I just haven’t found it yet.)
