Guide channels missing - how to enable channels?

Hi,

New DVR setup with WinTV-dualHD USB tuner on Nvidia Shield running latest 5.2 update. Working well bar slow channel changes and an issue I can’t seem to work around. Basically the guides available for my region (Tasmania, Australia) are all missing certain channels. The channels scan in on the tuner fine, but the guide data for them is missing, so I can’t map anything against those channels. You can’t double-up guide listings either (say for SD/HD using just SD guide data). Without the ability to map the missing guide data against the channel or to double-up on some listings, there doesn’t appear to be any way to enable the channel?

@tbignell What guide are you using, and what channels are you missing? You could always disable the SD versions of the channels, and instead map the guide to the HD versions, if that helps. :slight_smile:

Hi, I’ve tried all the available guides for Australia and the ones specifically mentioning Tasmania. All are missing certain guide data for HD. Example SBS Viceland and SBS Viceland HD. WIN Hobart and WIN Hobart HD. SCTV Hobart and SCTV Hobart HD. Also, not that I really want to listen to them, but without guides to the radio stations, they can’t be enabled either.

I guess it just seems a little odd that you can’t enable a channel without guide data, and that some channel guide data would logically be used across SD/HD channels, but you can’t specify it like that.

Yes, although a full rescan today and check of ‘Freeview’ guide data appears to have gotten better since original post. Still most HD channels guide data missing and majority of radio (ABC radio has since been added). Some channel numbers not lining up for Tasmania either.

I’m not overly surprised (or concerned) by radio data not being present, but as an interim step, can you map the SD guides to the HD channels? The guide data should continue to improve over time though.
