Guide Confusion - Solved

Server Version#: 1.25
Player Version#: from within server
Tuner Make/Model: WinTV-QuadHD
Guide/Lineup name: Broadcast Portland OR and Broadcast Eugene OR
Using XMLTV?:
Channel number/Name:

I am thoroughly confused. I am using a PC Desktop running Windows 10, with Plex Media Server.

I open the application within my browser (no difference between Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi).

From the Home button, I scroll down on the left side and select “Live TV | on Plex” and it displays a list of channels not relevant to my tuner. I can not find how to display the guide for my tuner.

If I select the Settings icon (top right, looks like a wrench), scroll down on the left side and select " “Live TV & DVR” my channels are displayed.

(1) How can I display the guide for the tuner?
(2) How can I dump all the preset channels unrelated to my tuner? Or at least an easier way to delete some and reorganize the remaining? The drag and order method is far too time consuming, especially when the the few channels of interest are interspersed throughout the list making it very slow and time consuming and tedious to find them and drag them to the top.

You’re looking at Plex’ live tv streaming – that’s one of the online media sources included in Plex.

If you want to hook up your own tuner to use it for watching or recording OTA programs, you need to setup that tuner inside Plex.
Edit: if you had already completed that, you might not yet have pinned the DVR menu to the sidebar. In that case check out the More button in the sidebar, select your server and find the respective option/menu item.

  • My tuner is already set up inside Plex. My DVR is also configured.
  • I already followed the instructions on that page … but the result is the same.
  • Selecting “More” does not present me with the options (to pin DVR) you described. There is no option for the Server and all the items are already pinned. They are listed as: Live TV, Movies & Shows, Music, Podcasts, WebShows. There is NO listing for “Live TV/DVR” and I suspect that’s part of the problem.
  • Within settings, under the last section “Manage” there is an option “Live TV & DVR”. It displays: Local Broadcast listings (with the tuner name, channels and status), DVR and My Channels (showing all the selected/configured channels).

OK. Just as I was about to submit my reply, I found the option to pin it. It was located in the midst of my Libraries list, which is how I missed it.

I mention this in case someone else has a similar problem.
