I understand that Plex may not be able to play h.265 without having to transcode and I am perfectly fine with that. My problem is that I cannot get Plex Media Server to show the h.265 file in the library. The file is an MP4 h.265 8-bit. Can someone help me out.
I actually believe it’s more likely the naming is wrong and plex is incorrectly matching it with an already existing movie in the library.
Unless it’s a tv show… Those can be a pain if not named correct.
Sorry about that as you can probably see I am a proud noob. So the version number 1.14.1.5488. So when adding the file to PMS, I have PMS set to auto-scan. Since I have noticed that none of the h.265 files have appeared in the PMS library. I have also right clicked on the icon in the system tray and chose “update library” I have also gone through the steps of deleting the library and re-added it just to try something a little out of the norm.
So I have been using PMS for well over a year now. All of my mp4 h.264 files are currently showing up in the same folder that the mp4 h.265 files are. I generally only use the name of the movie example would be Goonies. Is there something different?
So these movies I am trying to add to the library are the only versions of this movie currently on the PC. I want to get PMS to identify the h.265 prior to converting any other files.
So I tried renaming the file as you suggested and still do not have any luck. Just so happens that I am building a new PC this weekend. I think I am going to try the same process on the new PC. I have suspicions it might be the software I am using currently. If it doesn’t work I will definitely look for some help again.
