[SOLVED]Plex Media Server not adding x265 to library

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2368
Player Version#: N/A

I have a number of x265 files that plex is not detection. The naming convention is the same as the x264 files in the directory that it does detect.

I have tried emptying trash ad cleaning bundles and re copying them to no avail.

For example x265: - Does Not Work
Magnum P I 2018 - S02E01 - 720p HEVC x265

and x264 - Works
Magnum P I 2018 - S01E15 - 720p HDTV x264

media info on the x265 is here

Make sure you follow Plex naming requirements for TV shows. Plex is very picky with TV shows.

See below post for info on Magnum. TV shows with reboots, multiple versions, etc. can be tricky for Plex to match, even when you follow the requirements.

Per the naming convention you linked you can see the files have the correct naming.

Blockquote
Most television shows have episodes organized into seasons. To name season-based shows create files with the season and episode notation SXXEXX

I also understand reboots have an issue and have paid careful attention to that. With well over 8K of episodes cataloged correctly it seems to be limited to this file format.

Also Kodi found and added these episodes correctly

Is this “x265” issue happening with any other TV show?

If not, then I second the recommendation regarding using Plex’s relatively strict naming convention/rules for the Show Name

Magnum, P.I. (1980)

and

Magnum, P.I. (2019)

Follow the instructions in the link above (Problem with Magnum P.I. 1980 and 2019) exactly and see if that doesn’t resolve your issue.

Plex is not Kodi so that has no relevance here.

Completely deleting the entire Magnum 2018 directory, as opposed to just the non working episodes, going through scans/emptying trash/ cleaning and rebooting. Then restoring it worked. No file names had to be modified.

Seems like having to copy, delete, and recopy many 10’s of GB across my network should not be required to fix this.

It seems(seemed?) to happen if there is only an x265 file. Many shows I have an x264 and x265 with an identical root to the name (i.e. “Magnum P I 2018 - S02E02 - 720p HDTV x264” vs “Magnum P I 2018 - S02E02 - 720p HEVC x265”) show up as 2 versions, but some show with just the x265 are missing a few episodes. Possibly it had to do with the version of PMS when they were originally added to the folder? Not sure. I’ll probably have to do this dance every time I run across it now.

Also I realized in my previous post I did not include that they are in a specific folder, I:\Magnum P.I. 2018 so the full path is I:\Magnum P.I. 2018\Magnum P I 2018 - S02E02 - 720p HEVC x265,mvk. Drive I: is reserved just for TV shows. The media info was while I was isolating the file.

Relevance is all the other scrapers I use to catalog things found it without any issue with the current naming scheme and the naming scheme proved not to be the problem
