H265 playback, hardware accleration on the client

When playing an H265 stream located on my local Plex Server, and playing on my Windows 10 PC, I notice my Plex Server is transcoding the stream, sometimes utiling CPU at 100%.

I’m wondering if its possible to avoid this? Perhaps by having the Windows 10 PC do the ‘heavy lifting’ so to speak? I’m using Edge to play the stream, which plays fine

For example, could I swap my GPU for something that offers H265 hardware accelerated playback? My CPU is an i5 4460, so not hardware assistance there. My GPU is an Nvidia Quadro K2000

Don’t use a web browser, but “Plex for Windows” or “Plex HTPC” as clients.

thanks for your reply…

Plex For Windows app or Plex HTPC - will this decode H265 on the playback device, my Windows 10 PC?

Yes. A web browser won’t do that.

thank you!
