Hard to schedule series recording

When did the recording workflow change to something so much worse.

iPad with iOS 18.7.1

You used to be able to click on an airing and the option to schedule a series recording was pretty intuitive.

It isn’t anymore.

Plex has been mucking with the various apps and making an absolute MESS of everything while claiming it’s all in the name of making all of the interfaces the same. They removed a variety of different features from all of the client apps while largely NOT breaking most of the web UI (thankfully). Different apps have lost features at different times, and some have actually returned. Only recently did they bring back the ability to add / edit / cancel recordings on Android, for example.

They also introduced a bug for LiveTV as well where you had to have NOT restricted access to the LiveTV view for managed accounts or -no- users could see it and it would lock up the app. Not entirely sure if that has actually been fixed yet or not because I was able to get it working again by removing the restriction.

Thanks for confirming it’s not just this feature, I confess I don’t use it as much anymore but it certainly seems that way.

It’s frustrating, for sure… I would always be happy to use the Android app to set up and modify recordings, then that just up and disappeared. It was gone for what felt like forever, yet all of their online docs claimed the Android and Android TV apps still supported it. Then, one day, it just started working again.

I predominantly use the web interface for many of the basic and common things including almost all of my recording management. The new issue I’m hitting is that via the web UI, you can NOT go more than about 55 hours into the future with the guide even though the XML guide that I use contains 12-15 days worth of schedule content at any given time. And it isn’t a server issue because I absolutely CAN go further ahead using my Apple TV or Android apps. So, it’s definitely a web UI problem and who knows if it will ever get fixed.

Another fun one was when the forced the password change and everyone had to re-claim their servers… There was a known issue with persistent cookies where signing out didn’t fully remove everything and you couldn’t re-claim you server after logging back in. You had to use a different browser you hadn’t used before, and In Cognito / inPrivate window, or had to know to delete ALL cache and cookies for a handful of sites (including your local IP) in order for it work correctly. And Plex never documented any of this or even acknowledged it… It was via very savvy users and discussions like this one that word made its way out there about this.
