Hardware accelerated encoding not working

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797
Player Version#: 4.81.1

Hi there,

I’m having an issue with hardware transcoding using quickSync on Windows 10 on an Intel i5 skylake CPU.

With the following configuration set, it works perfectly on all combinations of h264, h265, 8-bit, 10-bit configurations.

All my streams are decoded using hardware and encoded using software, which is exactly what I would expect with those settings, and it all works flawlessly, 100% of the time.

However, when I select use hardware-accellerated video encoding, it fails.

But only!, 10-bit h265 videos. All other combinations work fine and I get hardware deconding and encoding working. It takes approximately a minute, then fails and restarts using software only and then starts to play.

I know there’s discussion about the skylake not supporting 10-Bit h265 encoding, but it definitely seems to support decoding, as all my 10-bit h265 content decodes 100% without the hardware encoding option selecteded.

For reference here are the details I picked up from CPU monkey on the GPU capabilities of the CPU.

It seems everything fails when hardware encoding in h264 in combination with a 10-bit h265 title is selected.

Attached are logs of successful and failed attempts from the server and the client application.

Much appreciated.
