Hi I wasn’t able to locate a hardware specific thread so I’m guessing this is the best place to ask. I read the FAQ for hardware but this question isn’t directly answered – Does Plex benefit from multithreading? Will i get better performance out of a 6-core Xeon or a CPU with faster single thread performance?
If you have the choice between two cpus which have comparable passmarks, but one of them has a better single-thread performance, then pick this one.
Some algorithms in the Plex Transcoder are better ‘multi-threaded’ than others so it again depends on the type of video files being processed whether multiple cores are efficiently used.
