Hardware Transcoding broken when burning subtitles ApolloLake-based Synology NASes

Yes it’s there. Funny enough in an unrelated thread I was instructed to make a change which the url here seems to have already made and is visible in the preferences file.

Ok, that’s interesting indeed. So there’s a manual way of doing it using a text editor but just for the heck of it I still want to make this work through the API call. Only thing I can think of at this point is my Squid proxy messing up with the API call but that shouldn’t happen because I have private IP’s exempted to be passed through the proxy. Anyway, I’ll see what I can do today. Thanks.

Ok, now it’s working. I might’ve inputted the IP of another PMS that I manage, I can’t say for sure. But yeah, it did work and survived a container recreation too.

Any hope a new release fix the bug ?

Any update on this problem? I want to make use of the new feature to skip intro’s.

Hello,

So is this issue with the transcoding all sorted now, since I am still running 1.18.0.1944 on my Synology?

If not what is the state of play regarding the problem and is a fix incoming.

Thanks for any insight.

ATM the best fix option, is this :

I’ve tried and it’s fully working with my DS918+, you just have to apply the “URL Trick” one time, it will be resilient, updates after updates…

So like Roflix said, using the “fix” is working well for every beta update ever since.

But this thread is getting pretty old now and it would be closed in a few weeks, so is there any news regarding a proper solution @chrisallen or will this be the final one?

Just asking, cause if it is the final solution you guys should defently make the fix more known to people e.g. next to the selection toolbox for which server version you need or sth more obvious than just hiding it inside an 388 reply long thread…

I believe the fix for Apollo Lake was included in the 1.18.7.2415 Beta (Plex Media Server - #317 by gbooker02) and released to public mid March as 1.18.8.2527.

This build should always pick the i965 driver regardless of the preference if you have an Apollo Lake CPU

@chrisallen, hi I’m new here and just moved my plex server to a Synology DS918+ NAS, which is getting me a scrambled image when hardware-accelerated is enabled for videos with subtitles, with build 1.20.1.3252

where can I download old builds like 1.18.8.2527 ?

Does this fix also apply to Gemini Lake (J4105, J5005, …), as it is/was also affected?

Just wanted to check in on this as well.
I seemed to be having this issue just back in September on PMS 1.20.1.32.52 with a J4125 (Gemini Lake)
