Hardware Transcoding does not work for me properly

Hello!

I need to help with my HW trancoding. My CPU (i5 6500) usage is 100% and my GPU (geforce 970) usage is abou 3%. HW trancoding is active (see attachments). Is there any way how to lower CPU usage but without change video resolution (1080p)? What am I doning wrong? Thanks for help!

neither gpu support HEVC decoding.

Hardware-accelerated decoding

Video files with H.264, HEVC, MPEG-2, and VC-1 encoded video can take advantage of hardware-accelerated decoding. When hardware-accelerated decoding is not compatible with a video file, Plex Media Server will automatically use normal software decoding. Exact capabilities will depend on what you’re using for the hardware-accelerated decoding (e.g. Intel Quick Sync Video vs an NVIDIA GPU).

did you read the link I provided?

your GPU(s) must support the codecs for plex to use it.

if you try transcoding x264 you will get hw transcoding, because your gpu supports x264 decoding.

they do not support hevc decoding.

So according to this link my GPU does not support HEVC https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix and that is the problem of my CPU overhead

correct.

you need a gpu that has support for the hevc codec that you are trying to transcode (at least in the picture you provided above).

if you look for a new or used 1060 or higher, or even a 1650/1660, they can be found for pretty reasonable prices.

I have a 1650 myself, but the 1660 has a bit better hardware, and probably more video ram.
